Case study · Freedom Church Assembly of God
We tested AI SEO on a site we run first.
Before we ask anyone to trust us with their website, we tried the work on something close to home: the website for Freedom Church Assembly of God in Virginia Beach (freedomchurch757.net), a site we run.
After we added AI search setup to a local organization's website we run, its daily Cloudflare visits went from about 30 to over 500 within a month, starting the week we made the change. Our other business site without it held around 70. Some of that traffic is bots.
The situation
The site was up and working. It just wasn't getting much traffic.
Before the change, Cloudflare counted about 30 visits a day. Some of that traffic is bots.
That's normal for a lot of small sites. The site is there, but search engines and AI tools don't have much to work with.
What we set up
In late September 2026, we added AI search setup to the site. In plain terms, that means making a site easy for Google and AI tools like ChatGPT to read, understand and trust. Here's what's on the site now:
- A clear title and summary on every page. Each page has its own title and short description that say what it is and where. That's what shows up in a Google result.
- Pages laid out so a machine can follow them. One main heading per page, with clear sections under it. Each page also tells Google which address is the “real” one, so it doesn't get confused by copies.
- Behind-the-scenes labels that spell out the basics. Every page carries hidden labels (called structured data) that tell search engines and AI tools the organization's name, address, phone, email, logo and social pages. Events are labeled with their date, time and place, and videos are labeled as videos.
- A map of the site, and an open door for search tools. A sitemap lists every page, and the site's crawl file lets search engines in and points them to that map. AI search tools like ChatGPT search and Perplexity can reach the pages too.
- Plain answers to real questions. Key pages answer what a first-time visitor actually asks: when, where, how to get in touch, and who to ask about kids and accessibility.
- The same name, address and phone everywhere. Every page, the footer and the hidden labels use the same name, street address and main phone number. Search tools get one clear story.
- Built for phones, secure and light. Every page fits a phone screen, runs on a secure connection (https) and stays small so it loads fast.
- Ready to look good when shared. Every page has its own preview title, description and image for when someone shares a link in a text or on social media.
The results
Here's what Cloudflare showed:
- Before the change: about 30 visits a day.
- Within a month: over 500 a day. The climb started the week we made the change.
- Our other business site, without the setup: held around 70 a day.
Daily Cloudflare visits · bots included
How to read these numbers
This is one site we run, measured by Cloudflare over one month. Every site and market is different, so we measure yours the same way, before and after.
- The timing lines up. The site got far more visits from people and machines, starting the week we made the change.
- The comparison held steady. Our other business site, without the setup, held around 70 a day.
- Two different kinds of sites. The church site has a congregation that shares its links, and our business site doesn't.
- We credit the setup with the early climb. Part of the later growth came from links shared on social media.
- It's the first month. We're still tracking it, and we'll update this page as new numbers come in.
Why crawler traffic matters
If bots aren't customers, why care? Because crawlers come before customers.
Google has to read your site before it can show it to anyone. AI tools have to read your site before they can mention you when someone asks who to choose. If the crawlers can't make sense of your site, or never come by, you're not in the running.
More crawler visits don't bring in business by themselves. But they're a sign the tools that decide what people see are now reading the site, and that's the first step to being found.
